Orange CS50H: The Beast that Roars

Orange amps have gained a reputation for building quality guitar amplification since the 1960s. Their new offering, the Orange CS50H, is a hybrid amp that combines classic valve tone with impressive power and versatility.

Design and Build

Orange CS50H is a head amp with a robust construction of steel and aluminum complemented by the signature orange vinyl covering. The 50-watt head is fitted with a retro control panel with black chicken head knobs, indicating its classic inspiration. The amp measures approximately 55cm x 25cm x 23cm, and weighs around 14kg, making it compact and portable for a versatile gigging amp.

Sound

The Orange CS50H delivers a wide range of tones, from clean to high-gain, making it suitable for multiple genres, including rock, metal, and blues. It comes with two channels, each with independent controls for gain, bass, middle, treble, and volume.

The first channel is designed for clean and crunch sounds, with a lot of headroom and sparkling top end. The second channel, on the other hand, produces a thick and creamy tone, and with the gain turned all the way up, produces the classic Orange signature sound. The channel also comes with a boost function that adds more emphasis and presence when in use.

For additional tonal finesse, the amp features a three-band EQ, which operates on both channels, enabling you to shape your tone precisely. The amp also has a transparent effects loop that allows you to integrate pedals and process your sound with ease.

Other Features

The Orange CS50H also features a half-power function that allows you to drive the amp harder at bedroom volumes, making it suitable for practice and home studio sessions. The head amp also comes with an impressively loud and responsive master volume that allows you to manage your sound without losing clarity or dynamics.

Conclusion

The Orange CS50H is a versatile, portable, and powerful amp that delivers the legendary Orange sound. Its hybrid design combines the best of both worlds, combining classic valve tone with modern solid-state technology, making it suitable for a wide range of guitar playstyles. It’s an excellent choice for gigging musicians looking for an amp that can handle clean tones, medium crunch, and high gain sounds. Also, the amp’s sturdy construction guarantees durability, making it a wise long-term investment.

In conclusion, the Orange CS50H guitar head amp is an excellent choice for both intermediate and professional guitar players looking for a versatile and high-quality amp. It comes loaded with impressive features like two channels, transparent effects loop, half-power function, and a dependable master volume. All these features combined make the Orange CS50H a beast that roars in guitar amplification.
