Description
The Catalyst 60 is a 60 watt dual channel modeling combo built for players who want a lot of tones without a lot of menu diving. Two channels, A and B, each give you access to six original Line 6 amp voicings, so you can set a clean base on one and a driven tone on the other and switch between them mid set. The 1 x 12 inch custom design speaker keeps the low end solid and the response consistent at stage volume. Power scaling covers 60W, 30W, 0.5W and Mute, which means the same amp works for a gig, a rehearsal, a bedroom practice session and silent recording.
Effects are onboard rather than added later: Boost, Delay, Modulation, Pitch and Filter, and Reverb. That is enough to shape a complete sound from the front panel, and the effects loop lets you place your own pedals after the preamp where they behave predictably. A 1/4 inch footswitch input lets you change channels and effects hands free while playing.
For recording and direct work, the Catalyst 60 gives you an XLR direct out with cabinet simulation, so you can send a mic free signal to a desk or interface, plus USB B for connecting to a computer. There is also a 1/4 inch headphone out for silent practice, a 1/8 inch aux in for backing tracks, and a 1/4 inch power amp in if you want to use the amp as a powered cabinet. At 26 pounds it is manageable to carry in one hand.
Compared with the more feature heavy modeling amps in its class, the Catalyst 60 trades deep preset libraries and extensive editing for a straightforward front panel layout you can read at a glance. If you want fast, reliable tone night after night, that trade is a good one.
