As someone who is always on the go, the Akai LPK25 Wireless seemed like a great option for me. With 25 keys, it’s the perfect size for tossing in my backpack and taking to gigs or practicing on the go. However, I found a few issues with this MIDI keyboard that kept me from giving it a higher rating.
Firstly, I was disappointed to find that the LPK25 doesn’t have a modulation wheel. This is a feature that I’ve come to rely on in other MIDI keyboards, so its absence was a bit jarring for me. It’s not a deal breaker, but it did take some getting used to.
Another issue I had with the LPK25 is that the keys don’t have much weight to them. They feel a bit flimsy, and I found myself missing notes more often than I do on other keyboards. The sensitivity can also be finicky at times, which can be frustrating when I’m trying to play more complex pieces.
All in all, I think the Akai LPK25 Wireless is a decent choice for a portable MIDI keyboard. The wireless feature is a nice touch, and having 25 keys is a good compromise between portability and having enough room to play. However, there are certainly other MIDI keyboards out there that offer more features and better build quality. If you’re looking for a basic keyboard to take on the go, this could work for you. But if you’re looking for something more robust, you might want to look elsewhere.
