Description

If you’re looking for a powerful and versatile synthesizer, the Roland TB-3 should be at the top of your list. This iconic instrument is a modern version of the classic bassline synthesizer, made famous by the likes of Daft Punk and countless other electronic music legends.

The TB-3 is a hardware-based synthesizer that features 384 customizable presets that span a wide range of musical genres, from house and techno to hip hop and beyond. The synth is designed for live performance, making it ideal for DJs and musicians who want to create on-the-fly, on-the-spot music.

One of the standout features of the TB-3 is the built-in touchpad, which allows for real-time manipulation of sounds and effects. Users can easily tweak pitch, filter, and modulation settings, as well as add additional effects like reverb and distortion, all with a simple swipe or tap of the touchpad.

Another key feature of the TB-3 is its deep integration with other Roland instruments and software. The synth can be used with the Axial Sound Library, an online portal of sounds and patches created by Roland and other synth enthusiasts. Additionally, the TB-3 can be synced with Roland’s AIRA series of instruments, including the TR-8 drum machine and the VT-3 voice transformer.

Of course, the TB-3 also offers a rich set of onboard controls, including a dedicated sequencer for creating basslines, patterns, and melodies. There are plenty of knobs and buttons to adjust parameters and create custom sounds, and the TB-3 has a USB MIDI interface for connecting to a computer or other MIDI-enabled devices.

Overall, the Roland TB-3 is a powerful and versatile synthesizer that is perfect for both beginners and experienced electronic music producers alike. Its intuitive touchpad interface and deep software integration make it an ideal choice for live performance, while its rich set of onboard controls and flexibility make it a great tool for studio production as well. Whether you’re looking to create classic acid house or push the boundaries of contemporary electronic music, the TB-3 is a must-have synth for any serious musician or producer.

  1. Wintr

I had a Yamaha DX7 synthesizer, the analogy between these two instruments is incredible, the module from the Volca series with a surprising effect reflects the synthesis of the original, although in Volca FM the polyphony is only three-voice but it is not a barrier to achieve a captivating sound. The instrument is inconspicuous but gives great opportunities to create interesting sounds – slightly different than what is currently served. He has amazed me many times.

They can be plugged into all your equipment, but you might as well take them somewhere out and look for inspiration.
The only – small – disadvantage is the noise at the output, but you can live with it. Ultimately, they can be removed in post-processing.
