Frequently Asked Questions:

What are the main differences between Yamaha GA15II and its predecessor, GA10?

The Yamaha GA15II and its predecessor, the GA10, are both small, portable electric pianos designed for use in home studios or live performances. While they share many similarities, there are several key differences that set them apart. Here is a comparison of the two models:

1. Sound Quality: The GA15II boasts improved sound quality compared to its predecessor, with a more natural and expressive tone. This is due in part to an updated AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) stereo sampling technology that provides better dynamic range and articulation.

2. Touch Sensitivity: The GA15II features Yamaha's Graded Soft Touch (GST) keyboard, which offers a more authentic piano playing experience by simulating the varying resistance of different keys on an acoustic grand piano. This is an improvement over the GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) keyboard found in the GA10.

3. Polyphony: The GA15II has increased polyphony from 64 voices to 76 voices, allowing for more complex and layered sounds without note drop-outs.

4. Voices and Tones: The GA15II includes a wider variety of built-in voices and tones compared to the GA10, providing greater flexibility and versatility in creating different musical styles and textures.

5. Effects: The GA15II offers an expanded range of onboard effects such as reverb, chorus, and delay, which can be used to enhance the sound of individual voices or applied globally to the entire instrument.

6. Control Panel: The GA15II features a more user-friendly control panel with larger buttons and a brighter display, making it easier to navigate and adjust settings.

7. MIDI Connectivity: Both models support MIDI connectivity, but the GA15II adds USB-MIDI support for connecting directly to computers and other digital devices without needing an additional adapter.

8. Dimensions and Weight: While both keyboards are compact and lightweight, the GA15II is slightly smaller and lighter than its predecessor, making it even more portable.

In summary, the Yamaha GA15II represents a significant upgrade over the GA10 in terms of sound quality, touch sensitivity, polyphony, voice selection, effects capabilities, control panel design, and connectivity options. These improvements make the GA15II a more versatile and expressive instrument for musicians seeking an affordable yet high-quality portable electric piano.
