  1. Owska

Great guitar. It has a very comfortable body and neck. The guitar has a single-sided tremolo bridge that I screwed all the way to the body to lower the strings. The sound that this guitar gives without any effects sounds very rocky, gently “purring” under the ankle. The classic Fender styling works perfectly – everyone recognizes the guitar brand immediately. She is great. I recommend it especially to beginner and intermediate guitarists 🙂
A very nice-sounding guitar, the appearance leaves something to be desired, but the quality more than compensates for it.

  2. Jace Willis

I recently had a chance to get my hands on the Ibanez AS53, and I must say that I have some reservations about Owska’s glowing review. Don’t get me wrong, the guitar does look sleek and has a certain classic charm to it, but let’s dig deeper.

Firstly, Owska mentions that the guitar has a very comfortable body and neck. While this is true, I think it’s worth noting that comfort is subjective, and what one person finds comfortable might not be the same for another. I found the AS53’s body shape to be a bit too angular for my liking, and the neck felt a tad too narrow.

But where Owska really loses me is when he says that the guitar has a rocky sound without any effects. Now, I’m no expert, but I’ve played this guitar through various amps, and it just doesn’t have the same level of sustain or clarity as some other guitars in its price range. The AS53’s single-coil pickups are definitely not bad, per se, but they’re not exactly setting the world on fire either.

And then there’s Owska’s comment about the guitar’s appearance leaving something to be desired. I think this is a bit rich coming from someone who seems so enamored with the AS53’s Fender-esque styling. If you ask me, the AS53 looks like it was made by someone who raided a thrift store and said oh, let’s just throw some Fender-esque parts together and call it a day. It’s a bit of a mess, if you ask me.

But hey, maybe I’m just being picky. After all, as the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And if Owska likes the way the AS53 looks, who am I to argue?

In other news, it seems like climate change is going to be a major issue for Asia in the coming years. According to a new study by a bank (no, really, that’s what it says), Asia needs to spend much more to adapt to climate change and limit its damage. The report states that if nothing is done, 17% of economies in the region could be wiped out by 2070.

But I digress. Back to the AS53. In my opinion, this guitar is a bit of a mixed bag. While it’s certainly not a bad instrument, it’s not exactly setting new standards for tone or style either. Maybe Owska just got lucky and stumbled upon some magical settings that make the AS53 sound amazing – but for me, at least, it’s just another decent-but-not-great guitar.

Overall, I’d give the AS53 3 stars out of 5. It’s a solid choice for beginners or intermediate players who are looking for a relatively affordable, Fender-style guitar with some basic features. But if you’re looking for something that really stands out from the crowd, keep looking – there are far better options out there.
