Description
The Marshall SV20H Studio Vintage puts a classic British valve tone stack into a compact head you can actually carry. Its all tube design delivers 20 watts of EL34 style response, which is enough to drive a cabinet with authority at rehearsal or on a small stage. When you need that saturated, pushed power amp sound at home or in a studio booth, the 5W low power setting drops the output so the amp breaks up without shaking the walls. It weighs 20.4 lbs, so it goes from the car to the stage without a second trip.
Two channels, High Treble and Normal, give you a clean, warm foundation and a brighter, more aggressive voice that sits on top of a mix. Each channel has both high and low sensitivity inputs, four inputs in total, so you can shape gain and feel before you ever touch a pedal. The series effects loop lets you place delay, reverb or modulation after the preamp, keeping time based effects clean while the amp does the overdrive. There is also a 1/4 inch DI out for sending the amp to a front of house system or an interface.
Speaker outputs cover 16, 8 and 4 ohm cabinets across five jacks, so it pairs with almost any cab you already own. There are no built in effects and no onboard speaker, which keeps the signal path simple and the weight down. Compared with higher wattage heads in the same family, the SV20H gives up clean headroom but gains the ability to reach genuine valve breakup at usable volume. It suits players who want vintage voiced crunch from a compact head and who prefer pedals for their colour.
