Description
The Soldano SLO Mini is a 30 watt solid state amplifier head made for players who want a small, portable rig that still sounds like a guitar amp. At 4.0 lbs it drops into a gig bag or the boot of a car without a second thought, so load in and load out stop being a chore. Two 1/4 inch speaker outputs let you match an 8 or 16 ohm cabinet, whether that is a compact 1×12 at home or a full stack on stage, and a single 1/4 inch instrument input keeps the front panel clean and quick to set up.
One channel covers the ground, with a Crunch/Overdrive switch to move between a leaner rhythm response and a thicker, more saturated voice. Set it clean-ish and push the front end with pedals, or flip to Overdrive and let the amp do the work. The effects loop is the practical detail here: put delay, reverb, or modulation after the gain stage so your time based effects stay crisp instead of turning to mush when the amp is working hard.
This suits pedalboard driven players, home recorders, and anyone who rehearses in small rooms and gigs where space is tight. Compared with compact tube heads in the same class, the SLO Mini gives up the breathing, compressed feel of a valve power section, but it also never needs biasing, valve changes, or a warm up. You get the same shape every time you switch it on, which matters when you are tracking or playing a short set.
Be clear about what it is: there are no onboard effects and no speaker, so you will need a cabinet to hear it and pedals if you want reverb or drive beyond the Overdrive setting. Treat it as the compact, dependable centre of a small rig and it does exactly what it promises.
