  1. Marley –

First off, make sure it has Yes keys. Like, actually Yes keys. Don’t bother with anything else.

Also, if you’re going to splurge on one of these things, go big or go home. The Launchkey 49 MK3 is a behemoth of a device that will take up a significant amount of space in your studio or whatever you do in there. But trust me, it’s worth it. It’s like the difference between a Vespa and a Harley Davidson both get you from point A to point B, but one is way more fun.

As I sat at my desk, staring blankly at the Launchkey 49 MK3, I couldn’t help but think about the state of the world right now. I mean, have you seen the news? The Thai government is probing the collapse of a Bangkok skyscraper, and rescue efforts are still ongoing with more than 70 construction workers trapped beneath the rubble. It’s like, what even is the point anymore?

But hey, at least we’ve got our MIDI keyboards to keep us company in these dark times. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll all be able to make beautiful music while simultaneously wondering if we’re just pretending to care about anything.

Oh, and did I mention that my room at the Travelodge Berkeley had a view of the freeway? It was… something.
