Epiphone SG Standard

Description

Aspiring and professional guitarists alike seek out the Epiphone SG Standard electric guitar for its classic design, versatile sound, and comfortable playability. The SG Standard, also known as the Gibson SG, first hit the market in 1961 as a replacement for the Les Paul model. The SG became a beloved guitar for players in the rock and metal genres, with its slim body design and powerful tone.

The Epiphone SG Standard stays true to its predecessor’s design, incorporating a solid mahogany body with a slim-tapered neck profile. The double-cutaway design allows for easy access to the higher frets, making it ideal for lead guitarists. The guitar’s simple yet elegant appearance features a beautiful cherry finish, offset by the classic white pickguard and pearloid trapezoid inlays.

But it’s the sound of the SG Standard that truly stands out. The guitar features two humbucker pickups, with a 3-way switch that allows players to toggle between both pickups or use either one individually. The pickups provide a wide range of tonal options, from warm and clean to gritty and distorted. Additionally, the guitar features a LockTone Tune-o-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, providing excellent sustain and intonation.

One of the most notable features of the Epiphone SG Standard is its affordability compared to its Gibson counterpart. While the Gibson SG is a high-end, premium guitar, the Epiphone version features a more accessible price point while still delivering the top-notch sound and playability players expect from such a legendary model.

Epiphone’s commitment to quality craftsmanship ensures that the SG Standard can easily withstand the rigors of heavy playing and touring. The guitar looks and feels like a premium instrument and is capable of producing a robust sound that rivals much more expensive models. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, the Epiphone SG Standard is an excellent choice for those seeking a classic, versatile electric guitar that won’t break the bank.
