Description

The Yamaha Revstar RS820CR electric guitar is a modern take on a classic design. Inspired by the café racer motorcycles of the 1960s, the Revstar series combines vintage aesthetics with modern performance and versatility. Boasting a solid mahogany body, a set-in mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard, the RS820CR features a unique custom-wound VH5+ humbucker pickup set, a hand-cut bone nut, and a sleek, matte finish.

One of the standout features of the Yamaha Revstar RS820CR is its balanced, comfortable feel. The guitar’s sleek body shape and contoured top make it easy to play for extended periods of time, and its set-in neck allows for better access to the upper frets. The Revstar’s trademark jumbo frets provide excellent grip and improved intonation, making it easy for players to play faster and more accurately.

The custom-wound VH5+ humbucker pickups are another highlight of the Revstar RS820CR. Designed to capture the essence of vintage PAF-style pickups while adding modern clarity, the VH5+s provide a classic, warm tone with plenty of sustain and definition. The neck pickup is warm and full-bodied, while the bridge pickup is punchy and articulate, perfect for heavy riffing and lead playing.

The Revstar RS820CR also features a variety of control options, including a master volume and tone knobs, a Dry Switch tone selector, and a three-way pickup selector switch. The Dry Switch lets players cut the lows and the highs, leaving only the midrange for a more focused sound that cuts through the mix. The pickup selector switch offers three distinct sounds: the neck pickup, both pickups together, and the bridge pickup.

In terms of construction, the Yamaha Revstar RS820CR is built to last. The guitar’s solid mahogany body offers a durable, resonant foundation for the custom-wound pickups, while the set-in mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard provide excellent stability and playability. The guitar’s hand-cut bone nut ensures excellent tuning stability, while the sleek, matte finish offers a vintage look with modern durability.

Overall, the Yamaha Revstar RS820CR electric guitar is a versatile, high-performance instrument that offers a unique blend of vintage aesthetics and modern features. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, the Revstar RS820CR is a solid choice for players looking for a guitar that is both comfortable to play and sounds great in any situation.

  1. Hag

The guitar sounds good, but you pay for the brand here. Yamaha is good and expensive. As I am an amateur, I sold it and bought it twice cheaper – I don’t see any difference in the sound. A professional knows Yamaha is a decent company. An interesting guitar from the Yamaha stable.

The guitar has a tremolo bridge and I must honestly admit that sometimes it has tuning problems. As befits a Fender, it is made of the highest quality materials. The frets are evenly studded and the strings are of high quality. From what I heard, this guitar is great and worth buying for any money. It is a product intended mainly for a sharp change and it works great at various types of concerts. The company that this guitar is the best on the market !!!

Frequently Asked Questions:

How does the Yamaha Revstar RS820CR's proprietary VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modeling) technology enhance its tube amp sound and response, and what impact does this have on guitar players?

The Yamaha Revstar RS820CR's proprietary VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modeling) technology works by digitally recreating the behavior of analog circuits, including vacuum tubes, capacitors, inductors, and transformers. This allows Yamaha to reproduce the complex and nuanced tonal characteristics found in vintage tube amps, without the drawbacks of using actual tubes (such as fragility, maintenance requirements, and increased weight). In the Revstar RS820CR, VCM technology is used to model the response and behavior of two 12AX7 preamp tubes and one EL84 power tube. This results in a rich, warm, and dynamic sound that responds realistically to playing dynamics and technique. The amp's clean channel delivers clear and transparent tone, while the lead channel offers a wide range of gain levels, from mild crunch to full-on saturation. The impact of this technology on guitar players is significant. It allows them to access the tonal characteristics and response of vintage tube amps, without the practical limitations or drawbacks that come with using actual tubes. This makes the Revstar RS820CR a versatile and practical choice for players who want the sound of a vintage tube amp in a modern, compact, and reliable package. Additionally, VCM technology allows Yamaha to offer a wider range of tonal options and customization than would be possible with analog circuits alone.
